Funko Friday: Daredevil

20151218_192410

This week on Funko Friday, I introduce one of the newest additions to my collection of Pop! vinyl dolls, Daredevil! I picked up this Hot Topic-exclusive the other day at the mall, and I can’t say enough how impressed I am with the store’s ever-increasing selection of these great collectibles. Their enormous wall of Funko’s signature line of toys is the sole reason I would ever set foot in one of their stores these days, lest I be blinded by obnoxious pastels splattered all over everything.

I bought the Daredevil Pop! in celebration of the television show, a joint Marvel-Netflix venture that has blown everyone away, myself included. The figure features the title character in his light-weight but protective red costume, which he finally dons at the end of the season. I watched the entire first season in a matter of a couple of weeks, and it far surpassed my expectations (which were set pretty low based on the 2003 Ben Affleck movie of the same name, which I never saw…because EVERYONE told me not to bother). In the show, Charlie Cox plays Matt Murdock, a blind man who is a lawyer by day and vigilante by night, ridding the streets of baddies with senses that are heightened to compensate for his lack of sight.

The show also stars Elden Hensen (Fulton Reed from The Mighty Ducks!) as Foggy Nelson, Murdock’s partner, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, the first season’s main villain, and the always lovely Rosario Dawson. A tremendous thirteen episodes have passed and exciting news has arisen in regards to the sophomore season of the show – former Walking Dead star Jon Berenthal will be starring as The Punisher! Berenthal has been resoundingly hailed as an excellent choice for the character, and I for one am beyond excited to see what Marvel and Netflix are going to do with him and the new crop of episodes. Keep your eye out for the new season in 2016, and if you haven’t seen the debut season yet, run and watch it now!

Another edition of Funko Friday here at The No Seatbelt Blog concludes, and a Christmas-themed installment of the toy series will be available on Christmas day!
