Welcome to the first ever Brewery Special at The No Seatbelt Blog! In lieu of simply reviewing one specially designated beer this week, I will present the details of my visit to Firestone Walker in Los Angeles. With my friends Chris and Jack, I went to the brewery, which also had a restaurant attached to it, for some pre-movie eats and brews. Continue reading

The Beer List: Victory Moon Glow
The Beer List is back this week at The No Seatbelt Blog with a review of a beer that I had for the first time a couple short weeks ago. The beer in question, that I spotted at my local liquor store, is Victory Brewing’s Moon Glow, which I had never seen before. The Victory catalog has done me well thus far, so their name alone holds quite a bit of currency when it comes to my incredibly indecisive nature when it comes to picking out a new beer to try. The Beer List: Troegs Dream Weaver
Hello, friends, beer drinkers, and countrymen! Welcome to another Sunday beer session at The No Seatbelt Blog! For this entry on The Beer List, I’m reaching to my neighbor to the west, Pennsylvania’s proudly independent brewery Troegs, and their unfiltered wheat beer that goes by the name of Dream Weaver. I’ve had a few of their brews over the years, and I must say I was impressed by this one. For starters, wheat beers are almost always up my alley, and unfiltered is the way to go. In my not-so-humble opinion, if you want to remove character, taste, and decency from a beer, you filter it. If you can see right through your beer without much of a problem, you should be reaching for something better. Now, onto the good stuff… Continue reading
The Beer List: Victory Winter Cheers
For the second week in a row, a beer from Victory Brewing enjoys the spotlight here at The No Seatbelt Blog, for this special Christmas edition of The Beer List. Unfortunately, my first choice for this episode was White Christmas from Sam Adams, but I have been searching in vain to find it this year, and I ran out of time to write this review as scheduled. I wanted to find a Christmas or winter-themed beer, and those are obviously easy to come by during this time of year, and the good news is, I found just that in Victory’s Winter Cheers. Continue reading
The Beer List: Hell or High Watermelon
This week on The Beer List, I’ll be introducing you to Hell or High Watermelon, by San Francisco’s 21st Amendment Brewery. Once upon a time, the American government deemed that rampant alcohol consumption had caused the country to lose its morals, so in its infinite wisdom, it outlawed booze altogether. In an appropriate nod to that dark period in our nation’s history, 21st Amendment Brewery named itself after the glorious Constitutional Amendment that repealed the ill-conceived act we know as “Prohibition”. The Beer List: Allagash White Ale
I first tried the White Ale from Allagash earlier this summer at an upscale restaurant called Char in Red Bank, New Jersey. It happens to be the same place where on another occasion, my friends and I spotted actor Chazz Palminteri and his entourage, a member of which grabbed me by the back of the neck and shook me, mocking me for ordering lobster at a steakhouse. I thought for a moment that I just pissed off a wise guy and was going to get whacked when I walked out the door. But, I digress. Continue reading
